I work with elders, so I often get to hear stories about the Cincinnati that was. Quite a few of the ladies I've known came from Mount Adams and talk about a "crazy lady" living in a tree. They all agree she took in laundry to make a living, and lived near Ida Street, but none can state when she lived.
Some searching on Google turned up an Ida (or Ada) Martin who was a washerwoman. Apparently Mt. Adams was called Mount Ada. The name was changed to honor President Adams sometime in the 1840's.
Odd, huh?
